MBA Coursework
In fulfillment of the requirements of the MMB program, I completed 4 MBA courses. These courses provided an opportunity to develop business knowledge and skills while interfacing with students that come from diverse backgrounds and have different mindsets.
MBA 585 - Spring 2022
Current Topics in Biosciences Management
This course provided an overview of biotechnology from a businessperson's standpoint. Scientific perspective was provided for innovative technologies like CAR-T Cell Therapy and CRISPR, while industry guest speakers provided valuable insight about their technologies, drug approval, drug development, sales and marketing, entrepreneurship, and much more. I also participated in a semester long team project identifying Current Trends in Industrial Bioproducts, which required extensive secondary research complemented by Key Opinion Leader interviews. Deliverables from this project are available at the links below.
MBA 576 - Fall 2022
Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization
This course provides hands-on experience in evaluation of technologies for commercialization potential with a focus on building Technology-Product-Market links. We worked exclusively in teams, requiring constant communication and collaboration, with the goal of choosing a technology-based product to develop a business plan for in the future. The course project involved review of 100+ technologies, selection of 3 to develop product ideas for, and semester-long evaluation and refinement of the products to find the best market opportunity. The resultant product will be carried into MBA 577 for further refinement and development of a business plan.
Example deliverables from this project are available below.
MBA 577 - Spring 2023
Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (continued)
Working off the product ideas created in MBA 576, we created a full business case for the best opportunity. This course included extensive Voice of Stakeholder research via interviews and surveys to understand all aspects of our hypothetical new business startup. My team created a product for the medical aesthetics market, requiring us to build understanding of the regulatory, technical, manufacturing, and marketing parts of the business, as well as the funding strategies needed to succeed as a new company.
